I’m interested to a great extent in the history of the USSR
and thus, that of the post-soviet region. The Chernobyl incident not only
destroyed the lives of many people, but it also was one of the last blows given
to the Soviet Union’s economy, thus (significantly) contributing to its
disintegration. Belarus has been the most affected by the radioactive
contamination unfortunately. Though the cultivation of different goods had always been important, the catastrophe as such set the production back a lot.
I don’t want to write in great details about the whole
matter, since tremendous amount of information is available on the subject. I
just advise you to watch this uncanny and outstanding documentary of the
