Thoughts for Today

When you have thought-provoking music, your flow of thought becomes unstoppable. In this post there is no mentioning of Belarus. But currently I am here, so I shall post this here anyways.

I’m overwhelmed with unbearable sadness and obtuseness occasionally, when I read the book ‘The Mind of the Terrorist’. I’ve mentioned it beforehand, but it takes me a longer time to read this certain book than usual, because I’m just carried away by what I read and always find myself getting engaged in long mental conversations with myself.

It’s simply unconceivable and sad to see the reasons and the “justification” behind the different acts of terrorism (or just a terrible human act – considering the fact that many terrible things happen each and every day and not every one of them is, naturally, an act of terrorism). Back to terrorism for a moment… A charismatic leader, a false misinterpretation of a nation’s, ethnic group’s (etc.) sacred text… and there you have it: a crowd of basically brainwashed people who carry out dreadful acts against their fellow human beings. And vice versa. And they think that their act is just (again: you can apply this idea to your everyday life as well).

After having read a lot in the subject in the last couple of months, I agree with the experts, that not mental people couldn’t conceive and follow through such ideas. It seems to me, that for the majority of this planet’s population it is just easier to think that terrorists are insane, hardly mental people… because this way it is possible maybe to stay sane yourself and carry on with your life. However, does it help if you ignore the obvious? If you pretend that something is not as it is? Hell, no.

Though I know this interest of mine has caused and will cause countless troubled moments, minutes and hours to me, I don’t regret it. Thus I feel that I live, that I may be able one day to contribute in a way to the common knowledge of mankind and maybe, MAYBE bring this whole insanity under “control” (note the importance of quotation marks). Under insanity I mean, besides the sad terrorist attacks, that there are just too many disagreements between people and seemingly the majority takes the path where you shall not encounter thought-provoking events. “Ignorance is bliss”- they say. Well, despite all the trouble, I want to be no part of it.

Additional piece of thought: Isn’t it tragic that most of the differences of opinions amongst certain people originate from the fact that they have different religious beliefs? I shall not make generalizations, because that would not be just and true. However, if we take a look at history, there are numerous examples which makes this statement valid. What makes another human being better a person, just because he/she is a believer of a different religion?

A thought has been planted in my mind when I attended high school and my extracurricular activities. I’ve been constantly surrounded by people with such ideas that I felt was not their own, that I heard it somewhere before. I have always just wanted to ask back: Why? Why do you say that? Sometimes I did, and I regretted, sometimes I didn’t and I regretted. Usual human behavior. When should we stay silent and when should we choose to stand up and shout and act? For some reason in the past few years I just feel that I want to stand up, ACT and help. It may be for many just a hippie/ idealistic opinion.

I’m simply so unutterably grateful for the past few years! For all the people I met, accidently or on purpose, for all the experiences, for all the countries, for all the cultures, for all the mistakes… the list could go on.

These makes me who I am today. I am not stainless, but I can live with that.
